Open Public Session The making of Scottish Men.
This was well attended and very well received.
Dr Ewan Gillon, Glasgow Caledonian University. Dr Gillon looked at the ways in which ‘traditional’ ideas about what a man should be are at the root of many destructive cycles Scottish men find themselves in, for example alcohol and drug abuse, anger , violence, workaholism and emotional neglect. Some of the ways in which Counselling Psychology makes sense of how Scottish men are, were considered along with some of the things psychologists can contribute in helping to make things better.
